Best electric clipper haircut ever

Note:  This will my last post for at least two weeks.  I am headed to Myanmar in an hour, where I will have no internet access for two weeks and questionable internet access for an additional two weeks.  Fight on without me!

I never thought I’d pay for someone to shave my head with electric clippers.  But I found myself in Kuala Lumpur alone and without electric clippers, so I could either buy some clippers or pay for a haircut .

Since throwing money away is an even more deeply held prohibition of mine, I gritted my teeth and walked into a barber shop in Chinatown.

“How much for a haircut?”

“For you, 11 ringgit”

“OK, I just want you to use a clipper and shave it all off.”

“How long? One? Two?”

“Zero”

I sat down and the barber draped me with a barbering poncho, then expertly attached a paper collar around my neck.

“Do you want attachment?  One or two?”

“As short as possible.  Zero.”

“OK”

Slap my face and call me Gertrude, this electric clipper haircut was well worth the money.  The barber was extremely conscientious, making sure every square millimeter was cut as short as possible.  He even used a straight razor (yes, he changed the blade) to detail my side and rear hairline.  Then he massaged my scalp with a plastic implement covered with dull nubs.  Finally, he busted out an electric vibrating massager that reminded me of one of those dentist lights attached to a long articulated arm hanging from the ceiling and gave me an upper back/shoulder massage.

On top of all that, in the end, he only took 10 ringgit, about 3.25USD.

My scalp is now ready for meditation in Myanmar.
